Would You Like to Eat Your Coffee Cup? Yes, it’s Possible
Say hello to the newest cool kid in town, Alfred Cone – the edible coffee cup! Yes, it’s finally here and it looks delicious. The food geniuses in Alfred Coffee & Kitchen in Los Angeles have come up with an edible chocolate dipped waffle coffee cup to serve espresso or macchiato.
Located along the tree-lined Melrose Place in LA, Alfred Coffee & Kitchen has created quite a buzz with their newest treat. The Alfred Cone costs an additional $5, but it’s worth it! With the rim of the cone completely dipped in chocolate, the edible cup is served with wax paper holders to prevent the chocolate from sticking to your hands.
As told by Ashlee Lawson, the store manager, the idea to introduce this sustainable delight was that of the cafe owner Josh Zad. “We have a lady that makes it for us from the Farmers Market and we just keep ordering and ordering and ordering,” said Lawson.
The cones are made by Naomi Kashi and her sister Dorit Simone, who work at Zia Valentina, a granita bar in the Los Angeles Farmers Market.
